It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. In our case, Greer SC resident Sallie Smith was necessity and Dillard-Jones Renovations the invention. A longtime fan of all things Southern Living, Sallie visited our 2007 Southern Living Custom Builder Show House and fell in love with the floor plan, which featured a spacious kitchen/breakfast area/keeping room combination. Sallie approached us during the show house tour about a renovation of her 30-year-old residence to create an open floor plan that was better suited for large family gatherings and entertaining. We tried to convince Sallie that a new custom home rather than a home renovation was the way to go, but she wouldn’t budge. We finally heard Sallie and opened Dillard-Jones Renovations LLC in 2008.
As it turned
out, Sallie was right all along. A custom home renovations company was a
natural extension of our custom home building business. The same skills,
expertise and passion for our work apply. Dillard-Jones Renovations was founded by Tom Dillard, a
degreed mechanical engineer with more than 20 years of construction,
project management and sales experience. A hands-on leader who works
directly with homeowners, vendor partners, and subcontractors, Tom stays
personally involved in each project as the renovation contractor to
ensure an easy and enjoyable home renovation experience. |
![]() Susan Vernon Unique when compared with other home renovations companies, Dillard-Jones Renovations employs a full-time customer advocate to assist homeowners with color and style selections, budgeting, and quality control.
A professionally trained interior designer, Susan Peace-Vernon hails from a homebuilding family, which gives her a working knowledge of the critical relationship between construction engineering, space planning and interior design. Susan serves as your daily communications link to suppliers and specialty contractors so you and your family can still enjoy life while renovating. As the Design/Build contractor, Dillard-Jones Renovations uses a turnkey approach to each project, drafting the design after careful space planning, estimating costs, setting the production schedule, and supervising construction. |

To keep projects on time and job sites running smoothly, Dillard-Jones Renovations employs a full-time Project Manager. J.C. Urps has 35 years of construction management experience as a sub-contractor and business owner, serving as president of J.C. Urps, Inc. for 14 years. He also was a project manager for The Cliffs Communities and construction manager for Mt. Zion Christian Fellowship. Also a skilled carpenter, J.C.'s custom trim and woodwork is featured in many Dillard-Jones homes, including the 2010 Southern Living Showcase Home in Claremont.
