It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. In our case, Greer, SC resident Sallie Smith was necessity and Dillard-Jones Renovations the invention. A longtime fan of all things Southern Living, Sallie visited our 2007 Southern Living Custom Builder Show House and fell in love with the floor plan, which featured a spacious kitchen/breakfast area/keeping room combination. Sallie approached us during the show house tour about a renovation of her 30-year-old residence to create an open floor plan that was better suited for large family gatherings and entertaining. We tried to convince Sallie that a new custom home rather than a home renovation was the way to go, but she wouldn’t budge.
